Introduction

The Ecotox Services Australasia (ESA) laboratory is an independent, NATA endorsed toxicity testing facility specifically designed to offer state-of-the-art testing facilities for the assessment of effluents, leachates, ground waters, receiving waters, chemicals and sediments using Australasian test species. The test organisms include marine, estuarine and freshwater species, both tropical and temperate. A key specialty of the ESA laboratory is its ability to identify actual causes of sample toxicity using Toxicity Identification Evaluation (TIE) procedures. ESA offer short lead times, rapid turnaround times and cost effective toxicity testing solutions.

In 2009, a sister laboratory was formed, named Ecotox Services International (ESI), to provide toxicity testing services for the international regulatory assessment sector using OECD test Methods. ESI gained Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) recognition that same year, and is we believe, the first ecotoxicology laboratory to gain this level of accreditation in the Southern Hemisphere. This allows for ecotoxicity test data generated by ESI to be eligible for assessment by other OECD member nations under the Mutual Acceptance of Data (MAD) arrangements. ESI offers testing under GLP with a range of both Australasian and Northern Hemisphere test species.
